About the Bentheimers International Society

The Bentheimers International Society is just getting started at this point in time. It is being formed as a non-profit organization in the United States. Its explicit purpose as stated in the bylaws contains the following three parts:

  1. Promote the dissemination of knowledge of the county of Bentheim, Germany. As religion was very important to many who emigrated from Bentheim this includes, but is not limited to, historical knowledge pertaining to the churches and the religious life in Bentheim.
  2. Preserve the records of the pioneers by aiding and assisting the society in the compilation, preparation, and preservation of records and family histories.
  3. Aid and promote interaction between the homeland and the settlements in North America.

The society is run by officers (Officers). It is also structured with a board of directors (Directors). The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter. Loren Lemmen is the editor of the newsletter.

Once the non-profit status is competed donations to the society will be tax deductible for US citizens.

If you have historical information pertaining to the county of Bentheim, please contact the society so that your information can be preserved along with other records.

More information about the society will be posted at this site as the site is developed. If you are interested in participating in the society you can reach us at the email address listed below. Also, be sure to visit our membership page at Membership.
