Statements Against Heterosexual Marriages Only
Statement
The HSR’s list of sexual sins that threatens the security of our salvation neglects central tenets of the Reformed faith.
Rev. Kelderman focusses on the report’s treatment of sins threatening one’s salvation. “These sins, premarital sex, polyamory, pornography, and homosexual sex threaten a person’s salvation. The Scriptures call the church to flee sexual immorality . . .” It doesn’t balance this with the security of our salvation. It’s a bombshell.
His first concern is theological – any category of sins which nullify salvation should cause us alarm. The bed rock of theology is grace as in Eph. 2:8-9.
Nothing we do can make God love us more or less.
Weima – shout clear verses. Whisper verses not so clear.
We have never allowed sin lists to be shouted.
Second – we are so prone to believe we are unlovable.
March shooting of people in Atlanta. In a week, his church said he is no longer considered a regenerate believer.
Response
As is linked on the other three pages in this group, there are certain significant aspects that seem to be encountered quite frequently. Click here to review that page.
He proposes we are not to shout sin lists. Is it shouting to determine in our synod whether a given act is a sin? Is it better we run a high risk of saying to people, you can do what God said will prevent you from having eternal life?
Since he advocates we not emphasize vice lists, is he advocating we sin that grace may abound?
So, is he proposing we never talk about these lists????
