3. Unity Inevitably Endorses Serious Sin

STATEMENTS FOR UNITY HERE IS CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE

If both views are allowed to exist in our churches, then if same-sex marriage is acceptable to God, those who deny it sin because they prevent someone from having something they have a strong need for (I Timothy 4:3, I Corinthians 7:9).

On the other hand, if same-sex marriage is not acceptable to God, those who approve of it encourage people to commit acts that will separate them from God (I Corinthians 6:9-10). Doesn’t the Bible teach us that if anyone so leads another astray it’d be better for that person to have a millstone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea (Matthew 18:6)?

Isn’t it true that the stakes here are so high that the church cannot afford to get it wrong? Isn’t it mandatory that we discern which one is correct and that we go only in that direction?

If we should allow both views in our churches, if we should agree to disagree, what is the specific reason we should do that?
